Dude, you were right. I thought you were bullshitting me. Pete Townshend may be one of the greatest guitar players of all time, but more than one organization wants to stop him from strumming along with The Who at the Super Bowl in Miami.

Children were taken into protective custody over pictures taken at bath time. The reason? A past incident with child pornography.

The 64-year-old rocker was reprimanded by British police in 2003 and placed on country's sex offenders' register for five years after he admitted that he paid to view images on a child porn Web site in 1999.

According to Townshend, it was all in the name of research: in a 2003 statement, he said that while it was wrong for him to visit the site, he did so because he needed information for a campaign he was launching against Internet child porn and for his autobiography. (In the past, he has said he believes he was sexually

Hey Geoff, Not sure if you remember me, but I remember Allison's little bro, with Duff Mckagen-esque style to him. I remember not being cooler with you, and feeling very intimidated by how good you were as a player so early. Anyhoot, Im happy to see at least one of did something with it. I used to do studio stuff in manhattan and it just got old. Not playing in groups i mean. Hope the Family is doing well. Sorry to intrude, but i just saw your youtube thing and had to comment.

Hi Geoeff-
Great show last Wednesday!! The band is amazing, and your playing is always inspiring, and often frightening!!! If you recall, we spoke about a book of hand exercises for tendonitis sufferers that you said helped you- I’d love to find out the name of the book, ‘cause I’ve tried about everything and I’m at a loss as of now.
Your new CD is fantastic, btw- hope you make it up to Boston/Providence area soon! If not, we’ll go back to NYC- your gigs are worth the trip!!
Thanks for the great music

I love the cd Geoff, it was def. worth the wait. Last night was a "Bar Fungul" night and this morning "Water is Wide" is bringing me into my day and is playing over and over. I'd kinda forgotten how beautiful the lap steel sounds in this context, well ALL well-played lap steel is great but this is especially so! Together with your guitar "Water is Wide" simply resonates and I can't find the words to properly describe the feeling...but thank-you Cindy Cashdollar, and thank-you Geoff, as always, for the music! And the best part? As someone once told me, "to be continued."

Loved the new clip -- Dana Colley's sax gives that great song a real smokey, rich sound. I WANT THE WHOLE SONG!

Mike Wise

February 19, 2009

"Hate to See You Go" wow.......! the sax changes the feel so completely for me. No, not exactly "changes" but it "emphasizes " and "enhances" in a very pronounced, and boozey, smoked-filled room kinda way, something I hadn't heard up until now. Very happy and excited for all of you! Which is probably only about 1/10th of the level of excitement you must be experiencing. It's all very cool my friend. Can't WAIT to hear the rest. Peace.

February 19, 2009

Loved it, Loved it, Loved it:-) Fantastic guitar, great sax. Very sexy sound

February 18, 2009

Loved the new release. I'm listening to it now. The sax is great, but the guitar solo had some of those "DAMN!" moments in it. It's definitely a keeper.

February 18, 2009

Love it! The composition the sound and the production -- all -- the whole piece/project reeks of success! From the inception and concept it is incredibly realistic and true -- "Hate to See You Go" -- it's so ironic -- rarely is such a parody placed in such a pleasureable medium -- great in form and structure as well -- almost able to see what you see -- good communication -- excellent communication -- thrilling!!

Geoff taught me the most important thing about the world of guitars and music. The sound. When I was looking for a new guitar after selling my old ESP LTD KH-602 I looked for a guitar with a tight and full overdrive and a good rich clean. I tried every guitar in the shop, but none suited my needs (Parker, ESP, Ibanez, Fender, Gibson Studio's). They all had great sounds, but htey didn't have both the clean and the overdrive I was looking for. I tried a little more and compared a little more and the more I played the more I realized that my needs where a bit crazy, if you can say it like that. And after a couple of hours I tried a Les Paul Standard and I was sold. I first tried it dirty and the sound was (is) amazing. Good punchy, fat and full sound. My sound. Then I tried the clean and it really blew me away. It was so clean and so rich of tone and depth that I got to own one myself. My style is classic rock, hard rock and metal, but I also play a lot of blues and this guitar gives me what I want and I am sure that it will deliver me my sound for the next ten years at least. I wouldn't use it for jazz, but that's probaly just me

With over 200 performances in the last year alone, his formal training and affinity for popular music have made him a sought-after performer in every venue from folk to classical. Mr. G.H. has also been the conductor and musical director for shows, from 1998 to 2003, for the orchestra affiliated with the Balalaika-Domra Association of America. Mr.GH works as a soloist, who plays a variety of folk, classical and contemporary music. He also collaborates with symphonies and chamber groups and is a conductor and musical arranger.

I first sawyou guys at the Cafe Au Go Go in New York in 2006 -- sort of. I stood outside. It was sold out. I couldn't get in. But you could see them -- the band was right in the window. And it was loud, even outside. In those days, musically, Geoff was a total wild man. He stood there, not moving a muscle, while he issued the most savage assault you had ever experienced, unless you were at the debut of Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" and your seat was in front of the cannon. And when his creativity, passion, frustration and anger all came together, it was frightening. His solo in "Crossroads" on Wheels of Fire is impossible: I don't know how he kept time while he played.

One minute I'm thinking to myself, self, what would happen if I google my name? The next minute I'm in this strange but wonderful place that's taking me WAY back memory lane...Hey guys, How the hell is everyone? Geoff, you are THE MAN for doing this thing. So this is a blog? LOL. Wow, too much... I really look forward to reading more and catching up with everyone. Steve, I remember us attempting Rosanna like it was yesterday. That is so funny man. You were grooving on it, and I was thinking I was somehow gonna sing that song, but secretly I just wanted know how to play that damn song! You're too kind with your comments on my later drumming. You know what, I did finally figure out that broken triplet feel on the hat and snare LOL To this day I still love to play that shuffle when warming up. By the way, I've been playing with a band in Cincinnati now for nearly 9 years. Back in the day we played tons, now it's just two Saturdays/month. It's a blast, and I credit all you guys for teaching me and fostering our love for music which continues to be a wonderful part of my life today. Wow, this is too cool. I hope when I hit this submit button that it opens for me a new chapter in connecting with the folks that meant so much to me as a kid back in Waverly. Take care all.

Geoff,

You may remember me from the NGW in Austin. We took the shuttle together from the airport to the campus. I just purchased your slide DVD. I've been building a slide guitar based on a Strat with a Hipshot Trilogy bridge and Stellartone Tonestyler to get a more humbucking sound out of single coil pickups. It should be a cool and versatile guitar. My band is playing Mercury Blues, which I was inspired to do after you played it as NGW.

Only problem is they will probably want to come see you guys too and we'll have to find someone else to watch our little "Saint Nick".
Here's to the Geoff Hartwell Band.
